Only If I could

 I want to walk

I want to talk

If  I could talk the walk

To some past lanes

Where I met you

And you met me

Wait for that tide

And take the broom

To sweep that sand

And make it white

 I would like

To search and find

 That old canvas

Which I painted

With hues of love

With subtle strokes

 To wipe it clean

Will I get that cloth?

This will mingle and melt

The colors with no particular hue

Just to forget you

 I would like to fly

To those lovely nights

To the morns bright

Where you and me

Sang together

And the wind danced to

Melody of togetherness

I would change the tune

And sing a solo instead

If I could

 I would like to search the attic

Of long lost times

To find the letters

Those lovely cards

Of touching words

And meaningless messages

As of now

Dust and sweep it clean

And throw away

To pave the way

For something new

 I will do whatever to erase

You from my life

But then will I find that me

Who could trust and love

With abandon

 A flower in the wild

Or Run like a fawn

No and never ever

Will I find those notes

Or find that soul song

However I long

  Just a minute I rest

 Then do my best

To let you go

From my heart

 As I sit and stare

Why should I care?

If the tide comes and sweeps

The lines I made

On the sands of time

They change and differ

All the while

 I know I should

Take a step and

 Bow my head

 Touch the core

 Look above

And let you go
